Godwin Herbert (of the parish of Crickhowell) on 12 June 1746 in the parish of Llangattock assaulted Henry Edwards junior with a 6lb stone striking, bruising and wounding him that he instantly died. (WALES 4/379/1). In an examination it is stated that Henry Edwards (age 13) was on his way home and that Godwin Herbert met him on a hill, knocked him off his horse, beat and wounded him and robbed him of £1.13.4. (WALES 4/379/1). Death sentence. No reprieve traced.
